With VMware
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), companies can host individual desktops
inside virtual machines that are running in their data center, accessing these
desktops remotely from a VMware enabled CLI thin client using a remote display
protocol such as RDP. Since applications are managed centrally at the corporate
data center, organizations gain better control over their desktops.
Installations, upgrades, patches and backups can be done with more confidence
without user intervention.
VMware VDI lets
companies preserve the security level of their corporate network at offsite
facilities. And VMware VDI includes full PC environments that are familiar to
end users and not limited by hardware or location. Connection broker software,
provided by companies such as Provision Networks, can also be used in
conjunction with VMware, to insure service continuity and a customized
environment. CLI includes connection broker client software in most of their
products making them “VMware thin client ready”.
CLI is a VMware
VDI Alliance Partner, as well as a member of the VMware Technology Alliance
Partner (TAP) Program. VMware is the global leader in virtualization software
for industry-standard systems. CLI is also a charter member of Provision
Networks’ Dynamic Desktop Deployment (D3) Alliance Program. Provision Networks
is a global provider of server-based application delivery and dynamic desktop
deployment solutions. CLI thin client terminals, used within the VMware virtual
infrastructure to access hosted desktops, deliver the ability to bring new
capabilities to users, with reduced risk, in less time, and at a much lower cost
than PCs.
