5294 / 5394 / 5494 Local Location Address Assignments
Updated 12/10/96

When configuring a device (display station or printer) on a remote controller connected to an AS/400, the device address is set by setting the Local Location Address (L.U.) in the Device Description. The Local Location Address must be translated correctly to the physical port and address on the controller and device. The most common problem is that a device is configured on the host with a Local Location Address that does not match the port or address. The typical symptom is the device shows the VARY ON PENDING status and will not go on-line.

The table below illustrates how to translate the local location address to the physical port and address.
