Color Monitor
Auto Detect Sequence

CLI terminals can be connected to many different types of PC SVGA monitors, color or monochrome. Because of this, the terminal should be powered on as follows:
Plug AC power from the monitor into the AC outlet on the terminal base.
Turn monitor power on.
Turn base power on. This will allow both the monitor and base to power on at the same time.
If you plug AC power from the monitor directly into wall outlet or computer surge protector, make sure you turn the monitor on first. If you turn the base power on before the monitor, the terminal may go into monochrome mode instead of color.
This monochrome condition can cause the wrong colors to be displayed on the screen, or some display fields will blink when they are not supposed to.
You can verify that the terminal detected the monitor properly by hitting the SETUP key on the keyboard, once you have a sign-on screen. This will bring up the on-line setup menu. At the top it should read 5476-C (5488-C for 5488V). If it reads 5476-D, simply turn the monitor and base off, then repeat step 1-3 from above.
