Instructions AS/400 System Error Log

To retrieve the system error code logs for a particular local workstation, you must perform the following from an AS/400 command line:
Type STRSST then press <ENTER>
At the screen labeled: System Service Tools enter selection 1 for Start a service tool, then press <ENTER>
At the screen labeled: Start a Service Tool enter selection 1 for Product Activity Log, then press <ENTER>
At the screen labeled: Product Activity Log enter selection 1 to Analyze log, then press <ENTER>
At the screen labeled: Select Subsystem Data enter "4" next to "Log", then leave the remaining From: Date/Time and To: Date/Time selections at their default settings then press <ENTER>
At the screen labeled: Select Analysis Report Options enter "1" next to "Report type" then leave the remaining selection at their default settings, then press <ENTER>
The next screen labeled: Log Analysis Report will show you a list of reference codes and the resource (device) name it corresponds to. Locate the display name you desire and type a 5 in the Opt blank to the left of the resource name, then press <ENTER>
The next screen labeled: Display Detail Report for Resource shows a detail description of the errors logged for a particular device. Print a copy of this screen then contact your CLI technical specialist at 1-800-727-5250 x218 for further clarification.
