IBM 3488V and CLI14C (CM14UHE) Video Adjustments

If you require 132 column display, locate the IBM supplied dongle and perform the following adjustments:

  1. Install the dongle in the video port of the IBM 3488V

  2. Install the video cable from the CLI14C monitor into the dongle

  3. Turn on the 3488V and the CLI14C

  4. Adjust the brightness and contrast on the CLI14C to the maximum value (turn both control dials located closest to the power switch clock-wise as far as they will go)

  5. Press the SETUP key located on the bottom left of the keyboard to bring up ONLINE SETUP

  6. Down arrow to the SETUP COLOR PALETTE menu item and hit ENTER

  7. Down arrow to the GREEN menu item and hit ENTER

  8. Press the F9 key

  9. You will be at the COARSE ADJUSTMENT menu

  10. Select the brightest color of green on the screen by putting the cursor over the top of the color you want and hitting the SPACE BAR

  11. Hit F3 to save and return to the SETUP COLOR PALETTE menu

  12. Repeat this procedure for any color you wish to adjust, when finished hit F3 two times to exit ONLINE SETUP

  13. Sign in to the AS/400 and display a screen which is in 132 column

  14. Adjust the width control (indicator looks like: <--->) on monitor to the maximum setting

  15. Exit the 132 column screen and view a normal 80 column screen

  16. Adjust the height control (indicator looks like a two sided arrow pointing up and down) on monitor to the maximum setting where the data both the top and bottom margins is visible

NOTE: Some fine tuning of all the video controls may be necessary and some colors may need to be adjusted to match individual taste.
