Client Access for Windows 95/NT
Updated 10/11/98

Client Access V3R1M2 and below use an Adapter Handler (e.g. E5250AH) & a call to NSTWINX in the AUTOEXEC.BAT (or WINSTART.BAT) files processed on startup.  All emulation card manufacturers provide such an Adapter Handler - see or tech note CLI 5250 Adapter Handlers for Client Access for Windows 95Note: If you have non-IBM compatible cards (e.g. 5250E7 or other manufacturers) you should consider staying with the Adapter Handler version of Client Access - these cards will be obsolete with the new 32-bit VxD.

V3R1M2 (with latest service pack & INSTALL.EXE executed from TWINAX folder) and above use a 32-bit Virtual Device Driver (VxD).  Our 5250-IP (InfoPro), 5250-I or 5250-I7 cards are compatible with this VxD.  On installation, select Link Type of Twinax and on Twinax setup select IBM (IBM register compatible) adapter and later select IBM Enhanced 5250 Display Station Emulation Adapter as the Twinax adapter type.

Windows 98 Compatibility: Only V3R1M3 and later releases (e.g. V3R2M0) contain support for Windows 98.

It is strongly recommended that the latest version and applicable service packs & PTFs be applied (PC & AS/400).  To check this information, go to www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess and click Service Packs in the left frame.  You can download required service packs.  If problems arise, you can click Trouble Shooting in the left frame for problem determination tips and test utilities.

IRQ Resources: Client Access for Twinax requires an IRQ resource (default is 5, you can use 2 through 7).  Check that such a resource is available before installation or make same available if possible (e.g. move sound card IRQ from 5 to 10, remove/disable COM port).  With Windows 95 (98), you do this via Device Manager.
