CLI 5250-PCM and WIN5250-I / WIN5250-EA in Windows 95

  1. Boot the laptop in Windows 95 BEFORE installing the CLI 5250-PCM card.

  2. Install the configuration software from the 5250-PCM utility disk by "clicking" on the "Start" button, then "click" on the "Run" option and type "A:SETUP" in the provided field. ("clicking" sequences in the remainder of this will be as follows: At the Run menu option prompt, [Start/Run] - Type "A:SETUP" [ENTER or OK])

  3. Select "PC CARD" adapter type and use the default directory name provided in the setup program.

  4. When the setup program is finished copying files, the option to restart WIN95 will show up on the screen. At this time, insert the CLI 5250-PCM adapter into an empty PCMCIA slot, then select to restart.

  5. Go to the "Device Manager" screen, in the "System" icon of the "Control Panel". [Start/Settings/Control Panel] and select the "DCI Emulation Adapters/5250 PC Card" properties.

  6. Verify that the "Resources" of the adapter are at the default settings of an "IBM Enhanced Emulation board" - I/O addr. (2718-271F), IRQ (5), Memory (DC000-DDFFF). To change existing settings, the "Use Automatic Settings" selection box must not be selected. Save new settings if changes were made

  7. Run "SYSEDIT" ([Start/Run] - Type "SYSEDIT" [ENTER or OK]) and modify the "CONFIG.SYS" file to add the exclude statement "X=DCOO-DDFF" at the end of the line that has "DEVICE=EMM386.EXE" only if the line exists.

  8. Modify the "Start Menu" in the "StartUp" section ([Start/Settings/Task Bar/Task Bar Options/ Advanced/Program/StartUp] by creating a WIN95 "Shortcut" for the "ENB5250" program in the "5250CARD" folder ([RIGHT CLICK mouse] [New/Shortcut] then type "C:\5250CARD\ENBSTART.EXE" in the provided field)

  9. Shut down the system ([Start/Shut Down] [ENTER or OK]) then 5-10 seconds after the laptop turns off, power the nit on and wait for Windows 95 to restart.

  10. Install the WIN5250-I / WIN5250-EA emulation software ([Start/Run] type "A:SETUP" [ENTER or OK]) using all default parameters in the setup program.

  11. Run the "Adapter Configurator" program ([Start/Programs/WIN5250EA/Adapter Configurator]) and select "IBM Enhanced 5250 ..... ISA card" as the "Adapter Type" using the default "Adapter Settings" and select the "Device Type" and "Device Address" that matches the host system parameters for this connection (usually the system operator has this information)

  12. Restart Windows 95 ([Start/Shut Down] select "Restart" [ENTER or OK]), then run the terminal emulation program ([Start/Programs/WIN5250EA/WIN5250EA Terminal/Generic Application] to get the "Sign On" screen of the system
